The Japanese employer files the COE (1–3 months); you then exchange it at the embassy for the visa sticker. SSW Type 1 is up to 5 years; Type 2 allows longer stays with family sponsorship. Note: SSW Type 1 years do NOT count toward the 5-year qualifying work-visa subset for permanent residency.

Japan Technical Intern Training (技能実習) for Thais

The Technical Intern Training program places Thai workers in Japanese companies for training in specific occupations (agriculture, manufacturing, construction, caregiving). Duration up to 5 years across three phases. Selection via a Thai sending organization partnered with a Japanese supervising organization (監理団体). TIT years do NOT count toward permanent residency — many trainees transition to SSW afterward.
